Russian marketplaces may begin to check sellers and the authenticity of their goods

The Public Council under Rospotrebnadzor proposed to oblige Russian marketplaces to check sellers and the authenticity of their goods. According to the authors of the initiative, the “Honest Sign” system can be used for this.

This was reported by the FBA “Economy Today”.

Council members emphasize that at present the administration of marketplaces does not control their partners, so they can sell illegal or fake products. Representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized that the sites should not allow the sale of such goods and supported this initiative.

It is noted that not all experts agree with the initiative of the Public Council under Rospotrebnadzor. According to representatives of Wildberries, the proposed measure is redundant, as it will increase the load on the sites without solving the problem of selling low-quality products. This is due to the fact that unscrupulous sellers will still look for channels to sell the channel, the company’s specialists believe.
